Amsterdam, April 1 2026 – Zimmo Group, part of Mediahuis, today announces the acquisition of Stekkies, the Dutch platform that helps tenants find a suitable home in an increasingly tight rental market. With this acquisition, Zimmo Group strengthens its position in the Netherlands and continues to invest in solutions that make the housing journey for consumers simpler and more efficient. The acquisition fits within Mediahuis’s broader strategy to invest in digital housing platforms and marketplaces across multiple markets.
Stekkies was founded to address a structural problem in the rental market: tenants are finding it increasingly difficult to secure a suitable home, while landlords are overwhelmed by applications that do not match their expectations. The platform reverses this dynamic. Stekkies helps tenants optimise their profile, set realistic criteria and quickly informs them of suitable listings, enabling high-quality matches. The platform is seeing strong growth in interest from both target groups, who particularly value its transparency and simplicity.

As part of the acquisition, Jeroen and his co-founder Sebastiaan will step back from the company and hand over day-to-day operations to Philip Freeke, who has long been involved with the business. Stekkies will continue to operate under its existing name and will be given the space to grow further within Zimmo Group, while maintaining the distinctive, high-quality customer experience.
