Amsterdam, 12 October 2023 – Mediahuis is bringing together all its radio operations in the Netherlands into a new organisation called Mediahuis Radio. The operational management of the company will be in the hands of Carlo de Boer (managing director) and Herbert Visser (director). Tom Klerkx (CEO Radio Mediahuis group) will take on the role of chairman. Herbert Visser and Carlo de Boer previously formed the board of RadioCorp, which they sold to Mediahuis in April 2023.

Earlier this year, Mediahuis expanded its radio portfolio, consisting of radio station Sublime and digital DAB+ radio station Nostalgie, with radio stations 100% NL, SLAM!, Sunlite and Radio Veronica. Following the auction of national commercial radio frequencies in July this year, Mediahuis managed to acquire two FM lots. Mediahuis is now bundling its radio operations into the new organisation Mediahuis Radio, which is settling in Naarden in what used to be the premises of RadioCorp.

Tom Klerkx, CEO Radio Mediahuis group: “Our ambition is to become a key player in the Dutch radio and audio market. The radio sector is developing rapidly with plenty of opportunities and growth. Radio is increasingly easy to listen to via computer, mobile, digital radio (DAB+) and digital TV, in addition to FM. Radio is still one of the most important media for consumers. By bringing our activities and expertise together in one organisation at one location, we can fully focus on fulfilling our ambitions.”

Carlo de Boer, Managing Director Mediahuis Radio “We are entering a new phase, saying goodbye to the RadioCorp name and building towards the future of the new organisation. Our strong and established brands know how to engage a loyal listening audience with their programming. The large and still growing reach also makes radio an interesting medium for advertisers and media agencies. By bringing everything together in one organisation, we can offer them a strong audio proposition as a cross-media partner.”

The radio stations’ spot ad sales will remain in the hands of One Media Sales, with commercial parties being able to turn to Mediahuis Radio’s sales organisation for non-spot (branded content) and multimedia deployment.

Mediahuis’ radio activities in the Netherlands will thus be separated from Audiohuis, the audio agency in the Dutch market specialising in creating, producing and distributing on-demand audio, led by Mandy van der Wal, managing director Audiohuis.
